KFC UK is launching a vegan chicken burger that will leave you licking your fingers.

‘The Imposter’ burger mirrors the taste of the fast food chain’s crispy chicken burger, except that the patty is a Quorn fillet that is topped with vegan mayo.

If you are wondering what Quorn is, it is a meaty substitute that leverages fermented fungus for its protein. According to KFC, the burger is described as “a triumph of deception” and will be sold at selected restaurants in the UK starting 17 June.

KFC is the latest chain to jump on the meat alternative bandwagon, following Burger King’s recent release of its ‘Impossible Whopper’, which customers said tasted like real meat.

Animal rights group PETA praised KFC for the launch of its new burger. The organization’s director of vegan corporate projects, Dawn Carr, said that the company is confident that the burger will be a big hit among vegans and vegetarians alike.

Who would have thought… Thanks @PETAUK 👍#ImposterBurger https://t.co/ZHCFNNPB6r
